Gym Day Pass Near Kirkby Lonsdale: Train While You're Visiting

Tomi TathamTomi Tatham/

Visiting Kirkby Lonsdale or Ingleton over Christmas? A £10 gym day pass at TNT Fitness in Cowan Bridge gets you racks, a sled track and proper kit, with no contract.

You're staying in Kirkby Lonsdale for Christmas, or the cottage is booked for New Year, and you don't want to lose a week of training. The hotel "gym" is a cross-trainer in a cupboard, and you'd rather not pay for a membership you'll use for five days.

A day pass fixes that. Here's how it works at TNT Fitness, a couple of miles up the A65 at Cowan Bridge: what it costs, what you get and how to make the most of a visit.

The Short Version

  • Day Pass: £10 for a single visit, no signup fee, no contract
  • Week Pass: £25 for seven days of unlimited gym access
  • Month Pass: £55 for 30 days if you're staying longer
  • Where: Unit 1 Bridge Mill, Cowan Bridge, LA6 2HS, with plenty of parking on site
  • When: normally 5am to 10pm, seven days a week (check festive hours before you travel)

Why Train at TNT Fitness While You're Visiting

Holidays in the Dales are brilliant for walking, eating and not much else. A couple of proper sessions keep your routine ticking over, and they make the mince pies easier to justify.

TNT isn't a hotel gym. It's two full floors built for people who take their training seriously, whatever their level. You'll find:

  • Squat racks, a lifting platform, benches and a full run of dumbbells
  • Plate-loaded machines and cables
  • An 85m² matted area for functional work
  • A 10m sled track, a ski erg, rowers and an air bike
  • Treadmills and the rest of the cardio you'd expect

If you follow a programme at home, you can follow it here without swapping half the exercises.

Which Pass Should You Get?

It comes down to how many times you'll actually train while you're here.

  • One or two sessions: a £10 Day Pass each time is simplest.
  • Three or more sessions in a week: the £25 Week Pass is better value and you can come and go as you like.
  • Staying for a month or working locally for a spell: the £55 Month Pass gives you 30 days with no contract.
  • Visiting regularly across the year: the 10x Gym Sessions pack is £75 and you use the visits when you're up.

Full details of every option are on our memberships page.

How to Get Your Day Pass

We keep it simple:

  1. Ring us on 07903 809293 before you come, so we can confirm opening times and get you set up.
  2. Park on site at Bridge Mill. There's plenty of space.
  3. Come in, say hello to whoever's on the floor and pay for your pass.
  4. Ask a coach if you want a quick walk-round of where everything is.

That's it. No sales pitch and no pressure to sign up for anything.

What to Bring

  1. Clean indoor trainers
  2. A towel
  3. A water bottle
  4. Your programme, if you follow one
  5. A layer for the drive home, because it's December in Cumbria

A Simple Session if You Only Have One Visit

Only got time for one session this trip? Here's a full-body workout that uses the kit we have and fits into about 45 minutes. Pick weights you could lift a couple more times than the reps listed.

  1. Warm up, 8 minutes: easy rower or air bike, then a few bodyweight squats, lunges and arm circles.
  2. Squat, 4 sets of 6 to 8: barbell or goblet squat, resting around two minutes between sets.
  3. Dumbbell bench press, 3 sets of 8 to 10.
  4. Romanian deadlift and seated cable row, 3 rounds: 8 to 10 of each, back to back.
  5. Sled push, 5 lengths: steady, not flat out.
  6. Finisher, 6 minutes: alternate 30 seconds on the ski erg with 30 seconds' rest.

If you've got a Week Pass, split the week into an upper-body day, a lower-body day and a conditioning day instead. Leave a rest day between hard sessions, especially if you're out walking the fells too.

Getting Here From Kirkby Lonsdale, Ingleton and Further Afield

From Kirkby Lonsdale, head out on the A65 towards Ingleton and Cowan Bridge is a couple of miles along. From Ingleton, it's around four miles the other way on the same road.

If you're staying in Casterton, Barbon, Bentham or one of the villages round about, you're likely within a short drive. Coming up from Lancaster or the M6? Junction 36 is around eight miles away.

Want to Join a Class While You're Here?

Our timetable runs through the week, with Strength & Conditioning at 6am on Tuesdays and Thursdays, T-Rox in the evenings and Circuits on Saturday mornings. There are no classes on Sundays, but the gym is open as normal.

Passes and classes work differently, so if you'd like to drop into a class, ring us first and we'll tell you what's possible during your stay. You can see what each class involves on our fitness classes page and check times on the class timetable.

Planning a Big Walk While You're Up?

Plenty of visitors come to the Dales to tackle Ingleborough, Whernside or the full Yorkshire Three Peaks. If that's you, a couple of leg sessions before the big day will help. Our Yorkshire Three Peaks training plan shows what we'd focus on.

And if you live locally and you're reading this for a visiting friend, our guide to finding a gym near Ingleton covers what membership looks like.
