Looking for an Ingleton gym? TNT Fitness is four miles along the A65 at Cowan Bridge: the kit, the classes, the coaches and every price, plus how to try it first.
You live in Ingleton because you love being out on the fells, not sitting in traffic. But when you want somewhere to actually train, with proper kit, real coaching and classes that fit around work, the options can feel thin, and nobody wants to drive to Lancaster four times a week.
This guide is for anyone searching for an Ingleton gym. TNT Fitness sits around four miles along the A65 at Cowan Bridge. By the end you'll know what's inside, who'll coach you, what it costs and how to try it before you commit.
How Far Is TNT Fitness From Ingleton?
We're at Unit 1 Bridge Mill, Cowan Bridge, on the A65 between Ingleton and Kirkby Lonsdale. From Ingleton it's one straight road: no town-centre traffic, no ticket machine, no circling for a space. There's plenty of parking on site.
That matters more than people think. The gym you stick with is usually the one that's easiest to reach on a wet Tuesday in January. A simple drive with a space waiting at the end removes most of the excuses before they start.
We train people from right across this corner of the Dales, including Ingleton, High and Low Bentham, Clapham, Austwick, Cantsfield, Casterton and Kirkby Lonsdale. If you commute along the A65, we're already on your route.
Open 5am to 10pm, Seven Days a Week
Ingleton runs on early starts. Farming, trades, hospitality, shifts and long commutes don't leave a tidy 6pm window for everyone, so we open at 5am and close at 10pm every day of the week.
That means you can train before the school run, after a late finish or on a Sunday afternoon when the weather has ruled out the hills. There are no off-peak restrictions on our monthly memberships. If the doors are open, you can train.
What's Inside the Gym
TNT is two full floors of training space, not a single room of treadmills with a dumbbell rack in the corner. You'll find:
- Squat stations, plate-loaded machines and a full range of free weights
- An 85m² matted area for functional training and classes
- A 10m sled track for pushes and pulls
- A ski erg, rowers, a Rogue Echo air bike and a full range of cardio machines
- Sandbags, kettlebells, wall balls and boxes for conditioning work
The point isn't the kit list. It's that you can follow a proper programme without improvising around missing equipment or queueing for the one bench.
There's more under the same roof, too. Olly, our resident barber, works on site, and Sarah-Beth, who holds a BSc in Sports Rehabilitation, offers sports and remedial massage on Fridays. Small things, but they're why TNT feels like a clubhouse rather than a unit on an industrial estate.
Training for the Hills on Your Doorstep
If you live in Ingleton, you live under Ingleborough. A lot of people start training because they want to enjoy the hills more: to get up Whernside without stopping every five minutes, to finish the Waterfalls Trail with the kids and still have legs left, or to tackle the Yorkshire Three Peaks properly.
Gym work translates straight onto the fell. Step-ups, split squats, sled pushes and loaded carries build the legs, lungs and ankles that steep, uneven ground asks for. Strength work also makes long descents far kinder on your knees.
If that's your goal, our Yorkshire Three Peaks training plan lays out how we'd build your hill legs over the winter, using kit you'll find on our gym floor.
Classes That Fit Around Dales Life
Our most popular membership is Gym + 3 Classes, because classes give your week a shape. There's a time, a coach expecting you and people training alongside you. It's much harder to talk yourself out of a session when someone will notice you're missing.
The timetable spreads across early mornings, mid-mornings and evenings. A few examples:
- Strength & Conditioning at 6am on Tuesdays and Thursdays, done before most people have defrosted the car
- MetCon with Anna Anyon on Monday mornings and Weighted HIIT with Louise Coates on Tuesday mornings, ideal for shift workers and anyone after the school drop-off
- T-Rox on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, a functional, total-body session coached by Finn Rayner and Tomi Tatham
- Women's Group PT with Tomi on Wednesday and Friday mornings
- Circuits with Louise on Saturday mornings
Every class scales to your level. Complete beginners work at their own pace next to people who've trained for years, and nobody is judging your numbers but you. You can read what each session involves on our fitness classes page and check current times on the weekly class timetable.
Coaches Who Know Your Name
TNT was founded by Tomi Tatham, a former professional boxer who reached a #4 UK ranking at light heavyweight. When injury ended his boxing career at the MEN Arena, in what should have been a British title eliminator, he put everything into building this gym. That standard runs through the whole coaching team.
You'll train around people like:
- Karrina Howe: S&C coach and BSc Sports Therapist, British Weightlifting Level 2, with ten years' experience working with athletes from basketball to paralympic rowing
- Frank Shepherd: Level 3 PT and former county sprinter, who specialises in fat loss, muscle and confidence
- Louise Coates: coaches powerlifting, CrossFit, Hyrox and HIIT
- Anna Anyon: Level 3 PT and Pilates instructor, and a pre- and postnatal specialist
- Finn Rayner: PT and boxing coach, who first walked into Tomi's gym aged 12
The difference you'll feel is that the coaches on the floor know who's new, who's coming back from injury and who's chasing a personal best. That's what "family, not factory" means here. You can meet everyone on our team page.
